Joe Eijken was born in Rozenburg in 1973. The family he grew up in was a normal working-class family. Early in his youth it became clear that he had talent for drawing. He got enough rest and space for that. Today his works are sold all over the world. His style is realistic and occasionally touches the limits of photo-realism. Most of the works stem from photographic material. Because there is a slow process in painting, it is nice if the source remains unchanged. His work mainly uses linen and cotton, but also wood and sometimes cardboard. He starts in a thin under painting in acrylic paint and paints in oil paint when dry.
