These two Thai TEPPANOM angels or deva are temple protectors and guardians in Buddhism. From the story, the people believe that Theppanom first came to earth when Buddha reached enlightenment. They came to protect Buddha and are guardian of religious temples and artifacts such as scrolls also to protect the house and land of the owner. Here represented as a pair, a brother and a sister, kneeling on both knees with hands at the wai position, praying or offering respect.
