John Soderberg "The Tibetan Knot of Eternity"
39"H x 18"W x 13"D
The Tibetan Knot of Eternity is our Rancho Feliz logo. It illustrates the inter-connectedness of all things. And all people. I sculpted this as a maquette. The bronze base is a pyramid with 30 human figures on the sides. On the back are a number of figures showing no empathy or compassion- with people stepping on others to get ahead. On the left and right sides people are starting to evolve with introspection and an awareness of spirituality.
On the front, an adult reads to a group of children and a parent holds a child up to the path upwards- towards the Angel who is breaking things and concepts which keep people separate.
Again, one of the reasons I have been working with my RF sisters and brothers for over 30 years, saving and empowering hundreds of thousands of lives, is that our founder Gil Gillenwater and the board take no salaries. Almost every dime we raise goes to help others in need. Gil and Rancho received the highest award for volunteerism in Arizona- the Hon Kachina Award- at a Black-tie event at the Biltmore in Phoenix. There were 400 nominees.
One of my good memories is when we teamed up with two churches and two Rotary Clubs to feed 50,000 hungry people in one day- on a Sunday shortly before Christmas. Those people had stood in line in the cold for two days to receive a bag of food and a blanket. I had older grandmothers going down on their knees in front of me, genuflecting and praising God for that bag of food.
