Oil on terra cotta (8” round)
Joanne Agostinelli is a painter living in the beautiful Verde Valley just south of Sedona, Arizona. Originally from Connecticut, she does not consider herself a ‘Southwest Painter’. She is inspired by nature regardless of what piece of the planet she is standing on, although the scenes from this glorious part of the world have definitely seeped into her work. Her pastels and oils have been exhibited throughout the country from Cape Cod to California and her professional affiliations include membership in the Connecticut Pastel Society (signature member), the Pastel Society of America and the Arizona Pastel Artists Association (signature member). She was a long-time council member and two-term president of Connecticut Women Artists, an organization with an illustrious 90 year history of supporting and promoting women in the visual arts. Her work has been juried into shows with the International Association of Pastel Societies and she has had numerous one-woman and group shows in the Northeast.
For the past eight years she has also been painting in oil on sealed terra cotta. Her subjects include images from Mexican Folklore, Southwestern themes, and Kaleidoscopic Mandalas.
