"Cernunnos" Bronze Bust with colorful patina and wood & granite base (31" x 24" x 18")
In the artists' words "Cernunnos is a Celtic mythological figure who is known as the protector of the forest. He is depicted on ancient artifacts with his dragon headed serpent who has the power to mesmerize animals yet harms no humans. Cernunnos wears a torc around his neck symbolizing power. The kestrel hawk on his shoulder has the ability to fly up through a hole in the sky and talk to god then fly back down and whisper to Cernunnos.
Jill was born in Sheridan, Wyoming and grew up in the intermountain west. Her love for sculpture started early in her childhood encouraged by her mother.
As an adult Jill’s skill in sculptured collectibles and giftware design was recognized by the giftware industry where she became a sought out professional for clients looking for “whimsical” and “cute” products.
After moving to Sedona, AZ, she studied clay for bronze under the tutelage of Master Fine Art Sculptor John Soderberg becoming his protégé.
