Charles Sherman says His work is informed by a lifelong study of ancient civilizations, world cultures and religions. The forms he creates are minimalist, conceptual and inspired by sacred geometry. His philosophy of life and art has always been the same: to promote the positive.
Since 2002 Sherman has investigated sculptural forms that express the concept of infinity, especially the three-dimensional Möbius ring and more recently, variations of the Tetrahedron form. The tetrahedron is a polyhedron composed of four triangular faces, six straight edges, and four vertex corners. The tetrahedron form of the Miracle Tower is an expression of sacred geometry. It symbolizes that the miraculous can spontaneously happen. Whatever is needed, the Universe, God, or one's higher power, will provide.
Mosaic is a current exploration. Using glass, agates, crystals and ancient ammonite fossils he transforms the surface of geometric form with applied mosaic. In 2006 he began translating his sculptural forms into sterling silver jewelry designs he calls "sculpture to wear."
Sherman's philosophy of life and art are the same: to promote the positive. His intention is to elevate the spirit of the viewer. He feels very fortunate that he can do what He loves full-time and hopes to do so for many more years.
